The Jaguars’ 14-year drought of not having a receiver in the Pro Bowl ended Thursday when Allen Robinson was named as an injury replacement for the Jan. 31 game in Hawaii.
Robinson, a first alternate, replaces Detroit Lions veteran Calvin Johnson, who dropped out with an injury. He is first the Jaguars receiver since Jimmy Smith made the last of his four appearances in 2001 to make the Pro Bowl and the first Jaguars offensive player to be selected since running back Maurice Jones-Drew in 2011.
Robinson’s 14 touchdowns this year set a Jaguars record and tied for the NFL lead with Seattle’s Doug Baldwin and the New York Jets’ Brandon Marshall.
