Jaguars QB Brandon Allen steps into spotlight Thursday night against Falcons

Despite a successful college career that saw him start 38 games over four years at Arkansas, Jaguars rookie quarterback Brandon Allen never made it to the Georgia Dome for the SEC Championship Game.

Allen will finally play in Atlanta on Thursday night, but he now has a vastly different objective.

Expected to start and — barring injury — play the entire game with starter Blake Bortles and backup Chad Henne watching, the sixth-round pick will try to show the Jaguars coaching staff he is progressing enough to earn a spot on the 53-man roster.

“I’m sure there will be [some butterflies],” Allen said.
