Jaguars tight end Julius Thomas can't catch passes after breaking his right hand in Friday's 23-21 win over Pittsburgh in the preseason opener.
Thomas is able to run routes, but the Jaguars don't want him catching passes for a while. Thomas has been ruled out for the final three preseason games, but could be ready for the season opener against Carolina on Sept. 13.
Thomas and quarterback Blake Bortles had been building chemistry going back to March. Just days after signing with the Jaguars in March, Thomas joined other Jaguars receivers catching passes from Bortles in California.
