Jaguars QB Blake Bortles guts out Wednesday practice despite shoulder injury

Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles showed off his linebacker’s mentality again on Wednesday.

The second-year veteran grew up playing linebacker, and moved to tight end and running back before finally becoming a quarterback as a freshman in high school.

Bortles practiced in full on Wednesday, despite suffering a right (throwing) shoulder sprain in Sunday’s 38-31 loss at Tampa Bay. Jaguars coach Gus Bradley said Monday there was a chance Bortles wouldn’t be ready to practice Wednesday, but did expect him to play Sunday against visiting Houston.

Bortles eliminated any doubt on Wednesday. He said Bradley was taking “the safe route” on Monday.
