JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Jaguars playoff hopes were all but squashed on Sunday at EverBank Field.
The Jaguars went 0-of-8 on third down and lost to the Atlanta Falcons, 23-17, in the team's final home game of the season. Adding to Jacksonville's "money down" dilemmas were penalties, dropped passes and coverage breakdowns.
The Falcons were able to move the ball with ease at times, as they used running back Devonta Freeman's dual threat ability to get downfield. He finished the game with 101 total yards and a rushing touchdown on Sunday.
Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan was solid against the Jaguars defense, leading two touchdown drives and completing 22-of-35 passes for 246 passing yards, a touchdown and an interception.
