Earlier this offseason, the Jacksonville Jaguars announced they would pick up the fifth-year option for cornerback Jalen Ramsey. On Thursday, ahead of the first round of the NFL Draft, the team made that a reality. The move means the Pro Bowler will be under contract with the team through the 2020 season.
It also means the organization will have one of their best players on the field as the team tries to work out a long term deal in the future.
According to Herbie Teope of NFL.com, “Jacksonville’s announcement proved a formality ahead of the May 3 deadline when considering general manager David Caldwell told reporters at the NFL Scouting Combine the team would pick up the option.
