Already flush with salary cap space for the start of free agency next week, the Jaguars created an additional $9.5 million Thursday by releasing left guard Zane Beadles and defensive end Chris Clemons.
Beadles and Clemons were scheduled to count $5.5 million and $4 million, respectively, on the salary cap. Neither player will count for any dead money.
The Jaguars are now $88.559 million under the salary cap when the free agent signing period opens Wednesday.
In a statement released by the team, general manager Dave Caldwell said, “moves like these are necessary but very difficult.
