Jaguars' offense looks sharp against Detroit, defense not so much

The Jaguars’ offense is ready for the regular season. The defense? A little more unclear.

The first-team offense solved its red zone problem from last week, going 2-of-3 in the first half of Friday night’s preseason game against the Detroit Lions.

The first-team defense, though, gave up 242 first-half yards.

The Jaguars led Detroit 14-13 at halftime. Blake Bortles was 18-of-25 passing for 213 yards and a touchdown as the Jaguars outgained Detroit 254-242.

Already without 11 players for the game, the Jaguars sustained two more injuries in the first half. Right guard Brandon Linder (toe) and defensive end Andre Branch (left knee) did not return.
