Jaguars notebook: LB Telvin Smith ends minicamp on positive note

Jaguars linebacker Telvin Smith makes plays even when he isn’t supposed to.

The second-year veteran intercepted quarterback Blake Bortles during Thursday’s 45-minute walkthrough, the final practice of the offseason program.

The practice was conducted with the players not in helmets, so the defensive line barely moved during the action. Jaguars coach Gus Bradley didn’t want the defense to make plays on the ball, but Smith couldn’t resist picking off an underthrown ball down the seam.

“We asked our [defense] to shadow, but make no plays on the balls,” Bradley said.
