Jaguars No. 1 draft pick Dante Fowler to have knee surgery next week

Jaguars defensive end Dante Fowler is scheduled to have knee surgery next week to repair his torn left anterior cruciate ligament.

Fowler was injured in the opening hour of the Jaguars’ rookie mini-camp on May 8 when he wrenched his knee during a pass-rushing drill. An MRI later that night diagnosed the injury.

Fowler was ruled out by the Jaguars for the season on May 9 but he has remained with the team during the current phase of their off-season conditioning program.

Fowler and the Jaguars have said he will do all of his rehabilitation on-site so he can remain involved as much as possible with the defensive line meetings.
