Jaguars linebacker Paul Posluszny calls extension mutually beneficial

Jaguars middle linebacker Paul Posluszny wanted to play in Jacksonville as long as he could.

He took a sizable pay cut to do so, despite the Jaguars having ample salary-cap space.

Posluszny agreed to a one-year contract extension on Thursday, dropping his salary to $15 million over the next three seasons at $5 million a season. He can earn an additional $3 million in incentives based on playing time. Posluszny was scheduled to make $7.5 million this season.

"I wanted to do everything I could to play for Jacksonville for as long as I could," Posluszny said.
