Well ahead of the March 9 start of free agency, the Jaguars re-signed back-up quarterback Chad Henne Thursday to prevent him from hitting the open market.
A league source said the two-year deal is worth $8 million and includes incentives for playing time.
It is the third two-year contract agreement between Henne, who did not take a snap last season, and the Jaguars. Henne has been credited with forging a quality working relationship with Blake Bortles the last two seasons.
“It’s very important,” coach Gus Bradley told the Times-Union of Henne returning. “It was one of the things [general manager] Dave [Caldwell] and I marked [as a priority] in our conversations.
