Although flush with salary cap space, the Jaguars created more room Thursday by signing middle linebacker Paul Posluszny to a new contract.
According to a league source, the deal is for three years and $15 million. Posluszny can earn an additional $3 million if he meets playing-time benchmarks.
Posluszny was slated to have cap numbers of $9.5 million this year and $7.5 million in 2016.
If Posluszny’s new cap charge is $5 million, it would give the Jaguars an NFL-high $39,595,883 in space, which they can roll over into next year.
Posluszny could not be reached for comment.
