Running back Corey Grant wasn’t in the right place at the right time in college.
Recruited by all the SEC schools and offered a scholarship by all except LSU, he decided on Alabama, where he thought his speed would be a good fit.
After a year, though, the Alabama coaches thought his speed would work better at cornerback, but Grant didn’t like that idea.
“I wanted to play offense,’’ he said.
So he sat out a year and transferred to Auburn where he thought he’d be a better fit, especially after coach Gus Malzahn and his wide-open offense arrived during Grant’s junior year.
