Jaguars Game Plan: Protect the assets in season finale

PROTECTING THE ASSETS

Coach Gus Bradley is ignoring our plea to sit as many front-line players as possible to prevent what happened in last year’s finale — a torn ACL for Sen’Derrick Marks that derailed his 2015 season. What the Jaguars should definitely do is protect quarterback Blake Bortles (three-step drops, no zone read, no scrambling) and the receivers (no crossing routes). And Bortles should also be under center the entire game — the Jaguars shouldn’t risk him getting injured while diving on an errant snap.

DOUBLE TEAM HOPKINS

The Jaguars’ plan to shadow Texan receiver DeAndre Hopkins with cornerback Davon House in Week 6 fell apart in the fourth quarter when Hopkins caught touchdown passes of 9 and 26 yards to turn a 14-10 Jaguars lead into a 24-14 Texans advantage (they won 31-20).
