Although nothing official was announced Wednesday, a source told the Times-Union the Jaguars “expect” to have a new defensive coordinator in place by the time the coaching staff leaves for the Senior Bowl on Monday.
Jaguars coach Gus Bradley has interviewed three outside candidates: Defensive back coaches Marquand Manuel (Atlanta) and Lou Anarumo (Miami) and long-time NFL coach Jim Schwartz. Schwartz was hired to run the Philadelphia Eagles’ defense.
The leading candidate remains current Jaguars defensive line coach/run-game coordinator Todd Wash.
If Wash is indeed promoted, the immediate issues would be: Who calls the defensive plays (Wash or Bradley?
