New Jaguars defensive tackle Malik Jackson made a bold declaration at his introductory press conference.
When asked about going from his small-scale rookie contract to being one of the highest-paid defenders in the NFL, Jackson expressed a refreshing perspective.
Jackson is the crown jewel of the Jaguars’ free-agent haul, signing a five-year $85.5 million deal with $42 million guaranteed.
“For me, it’s one of those things that you earn a $90-million contract, but at the same time you have to keep earning it,” Jackson said. “They don’t give you $90 million today. It’s not like basketball where I get it all guaranteed.
