Jaguars coaches optimistic about progress of OL A.J. Cann

When the Jaguars drafted South Carolina guard A.J. Cann in the third round of this year’s draft, it represented another step in the rebuilding program of general manager Dave Caldwell and coach Gus Bradley.

Cann was the first player drafted in the first three rounds in their tenure who wasn’t a need pick expected to start from day one.

With Brandon Linder and Zane Beadles returning at the guard, the position wasn’t a pressing need for the Jaguars.

It’s hard to predict where guards will go in the draft, but some reports had him as a possible first-rounder, and the Jaguars figure they got good value drafting him in the third round.
