Jaguars' Allen Robinson headed to Pro Bowl as alternate

The Jaguars’ 14-year drought without a receiver in the Pro Bowl ended Thursday when Allen Robinson was selected for the Jan. 31 game in Hawaii.

Robinson, a first alternate, replaces Detroit Lions veteran Calvin Johnson, who dropped out with an injury. Robinson is the first the Jaguars receiver since Jimmy Smith made the last of his four appearances in 2001 to make the Pro Bowl and the first Jaguars offensive player to be selected since running back Maurice Jones-Drew in 2011.

Robinson’s 14 touchdown catches this year set a Jaguars record and tied for the NFL lead with Seattle’s Doug Baldwin and the New York Jets’ Brandon Marshall.
