Jags’ Myers hanging on in tough week for kickers

Jason Myers is getting a taste of real life as an NFL kicker, which means he must deal with the position’s revolving door and face attacks on social media for struggling to maintain consistency.

Myers became the Jaguars’ convenient venting target Sunday after he missed game-winning kicks of 53 yards (wide right) and 48 yards (wide left) in a 16-13 overtime loss to the Indianapolis Colts. It left his bosses in the precarious position of standing by a rookie placekicker they want to keep, but no doubt wondering if Myers can avoid letting a nightmare day linger.

“There were mistakes made out there by multiple players,” said coach Gus Bradley.
