The preseason is so much more than just backups beating on each other. It’s about roster health and evaluation and, for a lot of players, the chance to make an impact and finally get on an NFL team roster (or the practice squad for some of them).
It’s like an extension of an audition, finally providing the opportunity for the players on the bubble to show what they can do in game situations.
For the Jacksonville Jaguars, this is especially important. The team is young and hungry and widely expected to make “the leap” in 2016 to either be an 8-8 team or better.
