Inside the Game: Why did Bortles throw that costly INT before the half? It's not complicated

The simplest explanation is usually the correct one.

Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles didn’t apply the philosophical principle known as Occam’s Razor on his costly interception to close the first half during Sunday’s 23-17 loss to Atlanta at EverBank Field.

The Jaguars were at the Falcons’ 1-yard line with 14 seconds to play in the second quarter. With no timeouts, a pass was coming.

The Jaguars lined up three players to Bortles’ left side: receiver Allen Hurns, tight end Julius Thomas and tight end Marcedes Lewis. Hurns ran a curl, Thomas a fade and Lewis ran into the flat.
