Inside the Game: Ignominious finish for the offensive line

HOUSTON | The Jaguars thought games like Sunday were behind them for the offensive line.

Not yet.

The Jaguars gave up a franchise-worst 71 sacks last season. While the number dropped, Sunday’s eight-sacks-allowed horror in a 30-6 loss to Houston at NRG Stadium will linger.

The Jaguars closed the season allowing 51 sacks, still among the bottom five in the league, but not historically bad.

Sunday’s effort looked historically bad. The line hadn’t been dominated like this since a 10-sack meltdown in a 41-10 loss at Washington in Week 2 last season. That was the last game before quarterback Blake Bortles made his debut.
