When general manager Dave Caldwell traded veteran Josh Scobee to Pittsburgh last month and handed the kicking job to undrafted Jason Myers, he knew there would be growing pains.
“This isn’t going to be a seamless transition,’’ Caldwell said.
“I’m not going to hang on every missed kick because I promise you he’s not going to make them all. We’re just going to live with them [the misses].’’
The growing pains started quickly. In Myers’ NFL regular-season debut on Sunday, he made a 22-yard field goal attempt in the first quarter, but was wide right in the second quarter on both a 44-yard attempt and a missed extra point, which the NFL moved back 10 yards this season.
