Grading the Jaguars: Week 9 vs. Ravens

Jaguars report card

Times-Union sports columnist Gene Frenette grades the Jaguars against the Baltimore Ravens based on production, effort and game circumstances.

Offense – D-plus

The Jaguars somehow won this game despite accumulating a season-low 258 total yards, converting just 4 of 16 third downs, and quarterback Blake Bortles averaging just 4.2 yards per pass attempt. They only got nine points off four second-half Ravens’ turnovers. Receivers Allen Hurns, Bryan Walters and Allen Robinson deserve credit for each taking big hits and hanging on to the ball.

Defense – B-minus

It’s hard to believe this unit getting three turnovers would merit such a mediocre grade, but generating only a modest pass rush on Joe Flacco (34 of 45, 316 yards, 3 TDs) was a critical factor in a near-loss that somehow became a fluke win.
