Jaguars Report Card
Times-Union sports columnist Gene Frenette grades the Jaguars against the New York Jets based on performance, effort and game circumstances.
Offense – C-plus
This is a mixed bag as Blake Bortles threw for a career-high 381 yards, including two bat-of-an-eye TD drives (five total plays) by completing passes of 20, 30, 23, 29 and 20 yards. But he also had three turnovers, including a killer red-zone fumble that prevented the Jaguars from possibly taking a fourth-quarter lead. You can see Bortles ascending as a quarterback, but ball security is an issue.
Defense – C-minus
It’s hard to believe the Jaguars lost for a fourth time to banged-up quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, who won without any running game.
