Jaguars report card
Times-Union sports columnist Gene Frenette grades the Jaguars against the Houston Texans based on performance, effort and game circumstances.
Offense – F
What had been the Jaguars’ feel-good story of the season, an explosive-type passing attack, turned sour these last three weeks. Blake Bortles, with most of his 239 passing yards at garbage time, was rendered powerless due to serious protection issues. Tackles Luke Joeckel and Sam Young were abused by J.J. Watt and Whitney Mercilus, who combined for 6.5 of Texans’ eight sacks.
Defense – F
If it’s not a foregone conclusion that the Jaguars must replace coordinator Bob Babich, these last two games should seal his fate.
