At some point in the development of a young quarterback, NFL teams start wondering how much longer they can keep stressing patience and living with killer mistakes.
In the aftermath of games like Sunday’s deflating 31-25 loss to the San Diego Chargers at EverBank Field, I think it’s fair to start asking this question: Is the progression of Blake Bortles moving rapidly enough along where the Jaguars can still accept his downside without changing how he attacks defenses?
The answer is probably yes. But looking at the consequences the Jaguars were forced to suffer for Bortles’ red-zone shortcomings and lack of awareness in his 24th career start, it has to be a little more irritating to swallow.
