Gene Frenette: Final grades for 2015 Jaguars

Looking back at the Jaguars’ 2015 season, they turned the script upside down and emerged only nominally better for it.

After performing somewhat respectably on defense in the second half of 2014, the unit’s inability to pressure the quarterback this season without blitzing produced woeful results against the pass, rendering any progress in slowing down opposing rushers almost meaningless. It also got defensive coordinator Bob Babich fired.

The Jaguars’ prospect for a bright future rests primarily with a passing attack that was an abject failure a year ago. Quarterback Blake Bortles and his top two targets, Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns, made tremendous strides in their second year together, putting up unprecedented numbers in Bortles’ case and receiver production not seen in 15 years.
