It’s too early to be locking Tom Coughlin into a Hall of Fame acceptance speech, regardless of how sentimental many people are getting over his classy departure from the New York Giants and his splendid 20-year head coaching career.
Remember, two-time Super Bowl championship coaches Tom Flores (Oakland Raiders) and Jimmy Johnson (Dallas Cowboys) don’t have a bust in Canton, though Johnson was an HOF finalist last year for the first time.
But here’s a major thing Coughlin has going for him that Flores and Johnson do not: taking the expansion Jaguars to two AFC title games in his first five years in Jacksonville.
