Four of the eight quarterbacks in the playoff hunt were taken with the first pick in the draft

Four of the eight quarterbacks still in the NFL playoff hunt have one thing in common: They were taken with the first pick in the draft.

But of the four, Cam Newton of Carolina is the only quarterback playing for the team that drafted him. He was drafted by the Panthers with the first pick in the 2011 draft.

Peyton Manning, Alex Smith and Carson Palmer were all selected with the first pick, but are no longer playing for the team that drafted them and Palmer is on his third team.

Manning was drafted with the first pick in the 1998 draft by the Colts and played for them for 14 years before sitting out the 2011 season with a neck injury.
