The Bengals learn character counts
Benglas coach Marvin Lewis got a lot of flak for not “controlling’’ Vontaze Burfict and Pacman Jones in the meltdown against Pittsburgh. Yet the problem wasn’t in not controlling them. The problem was having them on the team in the first place. Burfict wasn’t drafted because of character issues and Jones had had a long rap sheet. Lewis gambled on them because they’re good players and hoped they would overcome their character issues. He got burned. Lewis isn’t going to lose his job despite his 0-7 playoff record.
