Bowanko accepts loss of starting center job with no complaints

Center Luke Bowanko had a storybook rookie season with the Jaguars last year.

A sixth round pick out of Virginia, he won the team’s starting center job in the third game and started the last 14 games.

Mike Brewster was supposed to be the center at the start of camp, but he struggled and was waived and Jacques McClendon started the first two games before Bowanko got the job.

Bowanko, though, found out Monday he won’t be starting his second season when coach Gus Bradley told him that Stefen Wisniewski won the starting job.

The move wasn’t a surprise because Wisniewski started 61 games in four years for the Raiders before signing with the Jaguars.
