St. Louis general manager Les Snead aptly summed up the impact rookie receivers had during the 2014 season.
“They’ll probably do a 30-for-30 on those guys,” Snead said at the Scouting Combine, referring to ESPN’s popular documentary series.
Rookie receivers caught 12,611 yards last season, the most ever for a class. Five were selected in the first round, followed by seven in the second round. Buffalo’s Sammy Watkins, Tampa Bay’s Mike Evans and the New York Giants’ Odell Beckham Jr. headlined the group selected in the first dozen picks.
And several receivers drafted outside the first two rounds made an impact like Pittsburgh’s Martavis Bryant, the Jaguars’ Allen Hurns, Arizona’s John Brown and Indianapolis’ Donte Moncrief.
