Bill Fennelly is always quick to call the Iowa State women’s basketball team doctors the “smart people.” He deferred to the team’s physicians when Bridget Carleton came back from a concussion, and did so again in the decision regarding TeeTee Starks.

Starks, a true freshman guard, underwent surgery on her left knee Wednesday morning. She will sit for the rest of the season, Fennelly said on Thursday afternoon at the Sukup Basketball Complex, and will seek a medical redshirt.
