For a month or so, a player known for the time she spends in the gym, honing her game, was restricted to one-legged exercise biking. With a cast, then a boot, covering her foot after a stress injury wouldn’t heal, Jadda Buckley wasn’t even allowed to shoot for fear that she’d put too much pressure on her foot.
Finally, late in the season, the sophomore for the Iowa State women’s basketball team was able to throw the cast aside and return to the court. She wouldn’t attempt a return after deciding to pursue a redshirt, but just returning to the practice court was enough.
