The Iowa State volleyball team’s open scrimmage ended after just four sets, as the cardinal team beat the gold team, 3-1, on Saturday afternoon at Hilton Coliseum.
Each set followed an almost-identical script. Both teams went back-and-forth with each other until the winning squad pulled away late to win the set.
In the first, the cardinal team held a 14-12 lead before rattling off an 11-5 run to win the set, 25-17. In the second, the teams were tied at 15 before the cardinal team went on a 10-4 run for a 25-19 victory.
In the third set, the gold team finally struck, holding leads of 18-15 and 20-18 before taking the set, 25-23.
