While this was a bright spot for the Cyclones, the Lady Jaguars enjoyed 10 Iowa State turnovers in the opening stanza. Southern got within eight with an Alyric Scott jumper with 7:14 left in the second quarter, only to see Iowa State go on a 10-0 run.

Southern had their best quarter in the third, only being out scored by Iowa State 14-17.
