The distance between home plate and the outfield wall at the Cyclone Sports Complex is 200 feet to the left and right poles. Another 20 feet is needed to clear the fence in dead center.
On Friday afternoon, the No. 19 Baylor softball team made that gap seem half as long.
The Lady Bears blasted Iowa State, 16-4, after just five innings in its Big 12-opening contest. It was Baylor’s 15th win in its last 17 games, while the Cyclones continued to stumble, the loss being their seventh of 10.
