Brittany Gomez is still pretty far removed from the expiration date of her softball career at Iowa State. She does, however, now have her named etched in the program’s record book.
Gomez had three hits to move to 219 for her career and 78 for the season to set the program record for both, albeit in an 11-4 loss to Kansas on Friday afternoon at the Cyclone Sports Complex.
“I’m leaving my name somewhere,” Gomez said. “I like that.
“People know who I am, hopefully.”
It didn’t take long for the junior centerfielder to move into first-place all-time as she led off the home half of the first with a double down the left field line to break Jenny Condon’s 25-year old record.
