Tony Minatta spent Thursday afternoon raving about his team’s competitiveness. Now in his third year as the Iowa State soccer coach, Minatta believes this year’s roster possesses the intensity required of a Big 12 program.
“I think, with the competition this year for starting spots, everybody is going to have some extra energy this year when they take the field,” Minatta said during the team’s media day on Thursday. “Because they know somebody is ready to step right in.
“Competition wise, we’re as deep as I’ve ever seen it. Nobody can really feel safe or comfortable in their position, so they’re going to play that much harder when they take the field.
