Royals qualify for state

The Colo-NESCO girls’ cross country team took third at the Class 1A Ankeny Centennial district meet to advance to state on Thursday.

The Royals were led by Alexi Britten, who came in 19th in 22 minutes, 33.1 seconds. Faith Vincent (22:42.0) was 20th. Angela Brinkman (23:31.1) finished 30th and Grace Stalzer (23:36.3) finished 32nd.

Colo-NESCO had 143 points, holding off Lynnville-Sully by nine points. Pekin took first with 24 points.

South Hamilton came in 10th and was led by Hayley Bell (23:29.2), who finished in 30th.
