DES MOINES — When Iowa State signee Emmanuel Malou declared for the NBA draft without signing with an agent last month, it was said to be a “Plan B” and “protection” in case he wasn’t deemed eligible to play NCAA basketball.
That narrative seems to have shifted a bit in the intervening weeks.
“There’s a lot in the equation,” ISU coach Steve Prohm said Friday at a Coaches vs. Cancer event, “but it’s also with Manny, too, if he feels he has a great opportunity to stay in the draft, then he’ll do that.”
Malou’s eligibility case is a complicated one as he’s attended multiple high schools and preps school in both his native Australia and the United States while also going to two different junior colleges.
