Men’s Basketball: Niang, Nader drafted in second round

Georges Niang passed his former coach Fred Hoiberg on Iowa State’s all-time scoring list this past season, but he’s following in Hoiberg’s professional footsteps.

Niang, a two-time All-American at Iowa State, was selected 50th overall by the Indianapolis Pacers in the second round of Thursday’s NBA Draft.

He wasn’t, however, the only Cyclone to be selected as teammate Abdel Nader went 58th overall to the Boston Celtics.

The 6-foot-8 forward became the only two-time consensus All-American in ISU history following a senior season in which he averaged 20.5 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game while shooting 54.
