Men’s Basketball: Morris back to smiling despite shoulder injury

DENVER — Back on the practice floor for the first time in nearly two weeks, Monte Morris felt something close to normal.

“I’m back smiling,” the Iowa State point guard who is nursing a sprained shoulder said. “I was just running around so fast in practice, running around the court. I haven’t felt good in so long. Everybody’s like, ‘You’re moving so fast.’

“I’m just excited to be out here, man. My shoulder is actually getting a lot better. I can’t wait. Hopefully I can play good (Thursday).”

The Cyclones (21-11) will need their all-conference point guard as close to 100 percent as possible as they begin their NCAA tournament run against Iona (22-10) on Thursday (1 p.
