Men’s Basketball: Long’s second surgery more serious than anticipated

Iowa State men’s basketball player Naz Long’s scheduled second hip surgery of this offseason will be more serious than originally expected.

Long will have arthroscopic surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right hip next month, ISU announced Wednesday.

Long underwent the same procedure earlier this month on his left hip. At that time he told the Ames Tribune he would need to undergo a second, less impactful, surgery on his right hip at a later date. However, an MRI revealed more damage than anticipated in his right hip, necessitating the same operation done on his left to be performed on his right, an ISU spokesperson told the Ames Tribune.
