Men’s Basketball: How Mitrou-Long impacts ISU’s season as the Cyclone whisperer

DENVER — Naz Mitrou-Long walked up the stairs of the Sukup Basketball Complex to see Steve Prohm. He didn’t know what to expect from the man that took over the reins of the Iowa State men’s basketball program just a few months prior.

The 6-foot-4 Mississauga, Ontario native was in the midst of perhaps one of the most difficult periods of his life. He had just made the decision, with his team undefeated and ranked fourth in the country, to shut down his senior season due to lingering issues stemming from surgeries on both his hips.

He was facing existential basketball questions about his future and his role with this Cyclone team.
