Men’s Basketball: Hoiberg named Bulls coach

Fred Hoiberg already came home again. Now, he’s going pro once more.

The Iowa State men’s basketball star who helped strengthen Hilton Magic in the 1990s as a player and then rebuilt it as a coach 15 years later has accepted the position of head coach with the NBA’s Chicago Bulls, according to national media reports. The Bulls said they would announce a major decision on Tuesday at 2 p.m.

It marks the end of one of the most successful eras of Cyclone basketball that included 115 wins, a Big 12 coach of the year award, four All-Americans, two Big 12 tournament championships, a school-record four NCAA tournament appearances and a Sweet 16 berth.
