Fred Hoiberg is out of Ames and on his way to the Windy City.
The Iowa State men’s basketball coach boarded a plane bound for Chicago at the Ames Municipal Airport on Thursday afternoon but not before briefly meeting with the media.
It’s long been reported that Hoiberg is in the final stages of formally accepting the head coaching job of the NBA’s Chicago Bulls.
“We’ll see how tonight goes,” Hoiberg said. “Nothing has been finalized yet.”
Hoiberg has been ISU’s head coach since the start of the 2010 season and has guided the Cyclones to a school-record four-straight NCAA tournaments.
