On his first day in the coaching profession, Steve Prohm stood outside a drive-through daiquiri store in Shreveport, La., speaking into a pay phone, wondering what exactly he had just gotten himself into.
He’d arrived earlier in the day at Centenary College to enter the business under Billy Kennedy. He was to be on staff, he’d have a place to live and food to eat, but no salary. “Volunteer assistant” was to be the official title.
